The Chestnut Tree
If you're anywhere near Finchfield, Wolverhampton and you're after hearty British classics with a lively pub twist, The Chestnut Tree on Castlecroft Road is a local favourite worth knowing about. From sizzling ribs and mega grills to comforting crumbles and cocktails, this place isn’t just a pub - it’s an experience wrapped in flavour and fun.
As you step inside, The Chestnut Tree offers an open, welcoming space that blends a laid-back vibe with an upbeat social atmosphere. It’s got all the essentials for a casual night out or a weekend family treat - think quiz nights, bar games, big-screen TVs for sports lovers, and a well-stocked bar featuring an excellent beer selection, wines, spirits, and creative cocktails. If the weather behaves, you’ve also got the option to kick back outdoors thanks to their outdoor seating area.
Now, onto the menu - where the real action happens. Whether you're swinging by for a solo dinner or gathering with mates, there's no shortage of comforting, flavour-packed dishes to dig into. The Mega Mixed Grill is a real showstopper, packed with meaty favourites and perfect for those who arrive hungry. Another must-try is the Loaded Surf and Turf - an indulgent combination of land and sea that hits all the right notes.
Craving something classic? You can’t go wrong with their Fish, Chips, and Mushy Peas - golden, crisp and served just the way it should be. The Gammon Egg and Chips and Hunters Chicken are other hearty staples that regulars rave about. For a touch of spice, the Jerk Chicken Skewers and Peri Peri Chicken with Peppers bring some fire to the table, while vegetarians can go for Grilled Halloumi or Corn Corbettes.
If you're the type to share, get the table started with some Nachos or maybe a Greek Salad with Chicken to keep things light. Then again, if you're leaning into the indulgence, don't overlook the Double Chilli Burger - loaded, spicy, and straight-up satisfying.
Dessert lovers are in for a treat too. You can Build Your Own Sundae or surrender to the Cadbury Lovers Sundae - a dream for chocoholics. For those who like their sweets more traditional, the Apple and Blackberry Crumble or Apple Crumble with Custard taps into that comforting homemade vibe, especially when paired with a Hot Chocolate topped with Cream and Chocolate Powder.
Accessibility-wise, The Chestnut Tree is thoughtfully designed with a wheelchair-accessible entrance, seating, and toilet, making it inclusive and easy to navigate. However, it’s worth noting that it doesn’t have a dedicated accessible car park. As for service options, they offer dine-in, takeaway, and on-site services, but don’t expect delivery.
Ideal for solo diners, casual meetups, or unwinding with a pint after work, The Chestnut Tree doesn’t try too hard - and that’s exactly why it works. You get real food, generous portions, warm service, and the kind of down-to-earth atmosphere that makes people come back. Whether it's the food, the drinks, or the quiz night banter, there’s always something that draws you in again.

Food was pretty decent for pub grub, had a Greek wrap and was nice!!Pub is local and fairly decently priced!Menu isn't bad either, will come again!
Our West Park support group went here today // on the recommendation of their excellent cooked poached eggs. of us had breakfast . Food was well presented brought to us by table service. Staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Atmosphere was very good and everyone was n the Christmas spirit. I will be recommending the Chestnut Tree to everyone I know and will be using the establishment as regular as I can, for family meals too, not just for breakfasts. The staff and everyone there are doing a great job, keep up the good work!
The Chestnut is a proper community pub. It's open every morning with a very good breakfast menu which is sensibly priced. The pub is well attended throughout the day and is very busy with food orders. A very good selection of real ales, plus as mentioned a large food menu. All the meals seem to be very well presented and good quality.Staff are very friendly and efficient. In the bar area there's a darts board and a few TV screens which show live sports.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair access and plenty of space around the tables.
